Andrew Ng, co-founder of Coursera and Google Brain, announced LearnVector, a new AI company focused on personalized learning. The initiative received a $100 million investment from Coursera.
According to LearnVector, the company wants to transform learning from a ‘one-to-many’ model to a ‘one-to-one’ model. The idea is that each person has a learning guide adapted to their needs.
Ng criticizes the current teaching model, which considers ‘one-size-fits-all’. He states that despite advances in AI, the way we learn is still the same as centuries ago: standardized courses, taught in the same way for everyone.
The company warns that unsupervised chatbots can harm learning. ‘A chatbot can give an answer, but an answer is not education,’ says the site. The phenomenon of ‘cognitive outsourcing’ makes students learn less.
LearnVector promises to build an experience that plans a path with the student, adapts to their learning style, and patiently accompanies them until they master new skills. The company is in the development phase and promises to show products by early 2027.
The headquarters is in Mountain View, California, with the team working in person. The company is already hiring for positions such as AI engineer, learning engineer, learning scientist, full-stack software engineer, and operations specialist.
LearnVector plans to collaborate with Coursera and Udemy to use reliable materials from authorized sources. Ng highlights that people want reliable learning: accurate, relevant content that is worth the effort.
‘Fifteen years ago, Coursera and online courses changed education, expanding access. But how we learn remains the same. Now we have the opportunity to change that with AI,’ said Ng.
The company was founded in 2026 and has a mission to ‘accelerate human development’. Ng believes that AI will be the greatest accelerator of human development, if used correctly.
